Seasons Zanzibar — coral stone buildings among palms, Pongwe east coast

    Everything else remains the same

    Pongwe, Zanzibar · East Coast

Seasons Lodge opened on this beach in 2009. For fifteen years it operated as a small beachfront lodge on Zanzibar's east coast — built from coral stone and local timber, staffed by a team who stayed, visited by guests who returned season after season. It didn't grow because it didn't need to.

The lodge is now being rebuilt. Not replaced — rebuilt on the same ground, with the same materials where they can be recovered, the original paths and walls and mature planting retained wherever the new structure allows. What emerges is a design-led boutique hotel built with the discipline of someone who already knows what this ground can hold — and what it should never become.

Alongside it, a beach club, a pool, and the amenity infrastructure that the lodge's original scale never permitted. And from what was an overgrown corner at the back of the site — a previously untouched piece of beachfront land — Seasons Residences is taking shape. Forty-seven privately owned residences, fully integrated into the resort, sharing its management, its beach, its standard.

    One site. A new chapter.
